Cocoa's Great Adventure

The story began last Thursday when Cocoa was at the groomer's.
Smart little dog that she is,
she managed to get through two doors to find and embrace freedom.
She ran and ran and ran.
Her loving humans were always behind her by 5 or ten minutes.
She'd just been seen in the local ravine chasing a deer.
She was seen at Perkins Restaurant.
She was seen crossing a very busy street in our community.
Her humans had placed fliers all over our town,
and
Cocoa had fun running, chasing deer and other wild life in the ravines.
Then,
Sunday night,
Cocoa came to visit me.
She flew across the retaining wall and into Pixie's fenced yard.
Pixie and Cocoa made friends right away.
Cocoa began to train me immediately.
She came into our home and was delighted that I followed her!!!
Upstairs, Cocoa had found her spot.
 and she was hungry!
This photo shows what's left of her second bowl of food!
Not to give away and ending, but she finished that bowl, too!!!
And she's off!!
She was so hungry.
Then,
last night,
I was able to meet Cocoa's humans.
What a lovely young couple!!
And, they love
Cocoa so much!!
They were thrilled to have her home.
They showed me pictures of her sleeping.
They said she had been sleeping all day.
What an adventure!!!

Three Beautiful Things This Week

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1) My head feels better and the bruising on my neck is going away.  It will still be a few weeks, but I think things will feel better soon.

2) We might have seen our last snow of the spring season, I hope!!!  Today, our predicted highs will be in the low 70's!  I can't tell you how happy that makes me!!!!

3) Pixie and I did well on our first independent hospice visit.  We met some lovely people.  They gave me strength and courage!

Sometimes, a girl just has to have flowers

I know you've heard me whine about the length of this winter,
and
it
has
been
very
long
winter
this year.
So, sometimes, a girl just has to have flowers.
So, I made some!
 Now, you can help me.
I'm going to be in a craft show at the end of May.
I would like to take these flowers with me.
Can you suggest a way to show these flowers off to the best advantage?
I appreciate the information.

In the meantime,
I'll also be listing some in my Etsy store.
This is the first one I listed.

 You can see it

I can hardly wait to see the first flower outside.

It has been a
Long
Winter.

How to Make a Scarf in under twenty Minutes - Easy Peasy

I love wearing scarves.
Since I fell and conked my head on the ice,
I have developed areas on my neck that show the blood draining.
I decided to cover those areas up with a scarf.
Here's a quick and easy way to make one in under twenty minutes.

Here's what you need.
You need 1/4 yard of fabric.  I like to use knits that don't ravel.
You need thread, needle, and a pair of scissors.

Knot your thread and stitch the edge of the fabric across to the end.

Pull the thread to gather the fabric into a rosette.
Knot the thread.
Wrap the thread around the rosette and make two knots to hold the fabric.

Woo Hooo!!!
You're done.
You have a new scarf in less than 20 minutes!

1) My head is healing very nicely!  How I didn't end up in the hospital, I don't know!!1  My guardian angel was working hard that day.
My head is less swollen now.
There's been a lot of healing.
I'm just lucky nothing broke,
even the cement is fine!!!

2) The attempted break in is past us now.  The person who did this has problems, we've learned.  I plan to pray for him.  Things could have been much worse.  I'm glad they weren't.

3) I've had a lot of time to reflect this week and work on polymer clay.
We are truly blessed.

Tree Art

When I walk,
I love to look at trees.
That's how I first discovered
tree art.
Tree art is made by the trees themselves.
There is no graffitti
nor is there an outside source for the art
save a bird or a bug or a disease.
Take a look at the trees I found yesterday.

See the eyes and nose and the branch tooth?
It reminds me of a little nymph in the tree watching everyone who walks by.

This was my favorite tree.
See the bewildered look, the one eye, the open mouth, the teeth?
I can only imagine that this tree is amazed that there are beings who are actually mobile
as opposed to the tree which cannot move and has roots deeper than deep itself.
I love this tree!

Do you find art in the nature that you see?

Out of Sorts

Yes, this is a self portrait.  I know, a little Picasso-y, but it is how I have been feeling the last few days, and there are reasons for it.

On Monday, as I went to my car to load up and go home, I slipped and fell on the ice that was invisible.  We call it black ice.  I heard my head hit the pavement once and then again.  Ouch.  The lump that formed on my head was the size of a mouse all curled up.  It wasn't cute.  It wasn't funny.  It hurt.

I ended up going to an "Urgency Center," which is a cross between an urgent care and an emergency room.  I was very impressed with the facility.  They did a cat scan.  No concussion.  That was good news.  So it was back to Jenny's home to recover.  Ouch!  My head hurt!!!!!

That night, in the 3 AM hour, both Jenny and I jumped out of bed and ran into each other in the hall.  We had both heard something.  She heard a man outside of her window saying, "They're up."  Of course, she called 911, and while she was talking a man came up to her sliding glass doors and was looking in at us.  I was yelling and screaming, "Get away.  The cops are on their way.  I was waving a coffee cup.  I don't think that intimidated him much.  He just shook his head and said, "No."  I was shocked.  You'd think if there was a crazy woman screaming at you with a coffee cup in her hand ready to hurt you, you'd be running.  He continued to look in the window at us.  I continued to run around yelling.  Jenny yelled, "The cops are a block away."  It seemed like it had been hours since the call, but I think it must have been minutes.  He turned around and left, and we breathed a sigh of relief.  About this time, the police came up and guess who stepped out of the edge of Jenny's deck.  The same man who had been looking in.  He knew where to stand to stay out of our view.  As he was being arrested, I took his picture.  I'm not going to post it here, but I do have it labeled on my computer as "SOB."  He was taken away by the police.  We waited to hear from them, and when we didn't Jenny called 911 again.  She was told that the man had been drunk and was taken to the nearest detox center.

Neither one of us slept much the rest of the night.  I had a headache.  I was a bit dizzy.  Not only that, we had just had the scare of our lives.  I still can't believe that I looked this guy in the face telling him to leave, and he said NO.  I was so glad to see the police that night.

We have come to find out that for whatever reason, the police do not have a record or recording of Jenny's 911 calls.  They can't even find a police report.  I guess that when someone is taken to a detox center, the police do not have to file a report.  We want some information pertaining to safety.  I'm appalled, but I have been told that they are working on this.  Hopefully, I'll hear from them today as promised, if not, I'll be calling.
So, when you see my self portrait up above, you do know what kind of days I have been having.  My head still has a good sized lump on it.  The lump is more of an huge egg size now, extra jumbo sized, and it still hurts, but I am on the mend.  Hopefully, I won't skip too many more posts, I just have to recover from this weekend.

We all have bad days...

and yesterday was my turn to have a bad day.  So, in between bouts of damper, I made roses.  I love to make roses, and I checked Pinterest.  For whatever reason, I did a search of rosebud101, and guess what I found?  Some of you wonderful people had pinned some of my beads!!  Boy, did that make me feel good, so I just want to say

THANK YOU!

Bad day is over.  Today is a much better day!  Thank you!!!

I made some fabric roses.

I stared at these polymer clay beads to decide what to do.

Ten Things to do When You're Bored and in a Creative Rut

1)  Clean out your junk drawer.  It’s amazing what you might find in there.  Take 1 item from your clean out and repurpose that item.

2)  Find your favorite book.  This only works with a real book, not an ebook.  You can also use a newspaper or magazine.  Turn the book upside down.  Beginning from the bottom of the page, read the words without turning the reading material right side up.  This exercise strives to open those brain pathways that are clogged.

3)  Go into the kitchen.  Set a timer for 20 seconds. With your eyes closed pull out 1 item from the refrigerator, 1 item from the pantry, and 1 piece of fruit or vegetable in those 20 seconds.  Using only these 3 ingredients, make breakfast, lunch or supper.

4)  If you have small children, ask their permission to use their crayons and a coloring book.  If you don’t have small children, go to the dollar store.  Buy a coloring book and a package of crayons.  Choose one page to color.  Only color OUTSIDE  the lines.

5)  Find a clean, empty jar.  Fill that jar with 5 things that will turn that jar into small work of art.

6)  Make a list of 10 items that you can only find outside.  Take that list.  Go outside and find those items.

7)  Make a list of your favorite activities.  Choose one from that list.  Go do it.

8)  Without speaking, walk through your home.  Imagine something that you would like to change about each room.  Choose one room.  Make that change.

9) Make a journal out of unusual items that you find around your house or at the dollar store.  For example, stickers and tissue paper.  Make the journal meaningful to you.

10)  Put your feet up.  Close your eyes.  Take a nap.

I Know it's April Fool's Day but I have no Imagination for Jokes, so I'm just going to show you what I made using Polymer Clay and that's no April Fool's joke!!!!

There really isn't even much of a history to write about when it comes to April Fool's Day.
It seems that most historians don't know when it started or
Why.
So, after much research,
I just decided that a better blog post would be to show you what I have done with polymer clay
and that's really no joke.

How about some
Sea Stars?

I think I'll add a patina for more color.
I don't know what's wrong with me.
What?
No color?

Remember my garden I showed you about a year ago, but I didn't know what was wrong with it?
Well, two days ago, I saw that the clay was cracking, so...
I remade the little garden,
and now,
I like it!

I plan to make more of these.
You will see more later!
