Three Beautiful Things This Week

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1)  This realization can keep me going for a long time!
I AM Blessed!

2) The gardens are maturing now.  I saw a patch of kale this morning, while Pixie and I were walking.  It looked so good!  I wish I had snuck some out of the garden!

3) Fun time at the thrift stores today.
I hit a sale at one store where everything was 50% off!

Learning to Live with Cats

The Cast of Characters
The Cast of Characters:

Pixie Marie:  My retired greyhound, now a therapy dog

Marvin:  The cat that's been Jenny's cat the longest

Fred:  Jenny's cat, a former street cat, and a tough cat around Pixie
Jenny is teaching him and doing a great job!  He doesn't hiss and show his claws to Pixie any more.

This combination of animals makes for interesting living.

Pixie does whatever the 10-12 pound kitties tell her to do.
If they want her to stay where she is, she does.
If they want her to get off the couch, she does.
If they want her to move away from her food, she does.

On the other side of the pancake, because Pixie is so HUGE compared to kitties, they run very quickly when she comes their way.
When she's laying down, Pixie sleeps through the hissing and the ignoring the cats give her.
When it's possible, Pixie will eat the kitty food left out for kitties.
For some reason, she drinks her own water and not the water for the kitties.

Now, we are all learning to live together.
In peace and tranquility.

What have we learned?
Well, as in all interesting endeavors, there are ups and downs.
Pixie feels better now because she is on Prozac and Adavan as needed.
Trust me, it helps.

Kitties are getting used to us being around.
Other than Pixie, they are marking me and my things.

We've also learned that you can't herd cats.
Walks are good for Pixie and me.
Pixie poops a lot.

Cats are cats
Dogs are dogs.
Things will work out.

Rooooooooooooo!
Meow!
Hiss!
Roooooooooooooo!

Stay tuned!

Latest Project

It's back to crocheting for now.
One of the things I love about
Minnesota
are the nights that become cool
early in the season.

These cool nights are
harbingers of the promise of fall
and
winter to come.

Since it's still summer,
technically,
and
fall is on the way,
I wanted to make a lighter weight shawl to wear on the cool evenings.

I found this pattern on

I do like this site,
however,
when this site links to the
"home site" of the pattern,
many of these sites have adds that you have to navigate.
That I don't like.
When adds block me,
I leave the site and never return.

As always, though, with crochet patterns,
or, at least,
most of the time,
I make a few changes in the pattern.

I realized, as soon as I started, that this pattern was not going to be big of a shawl as was seen in the photo.
I couldn't find the yarn in the photo, so, I went to my
go to color of pink!
I'm adding a few rows, here and there, and maybe, in the end, more than I planned.
I used a fingering weight yarn.
I think I'm going to love this shawl.

You'll see it when it's finished.
If you are a crochet person,
you might want to look it up!
It's great.
Good luck!!!
See you soon.

1) Isn't the lamp beautiful?  It's a salt lamp made of salt hearts.  It's pink salt, of course, and it's beautiful!

2) Pixie and Fred are sort of, kind of, maybe getting along.  Fred is a lot calmer with Pixie around.  I don't know why, but I think that's great!

3) If there could be better summer weather, I don't know where or when.  It's been nice this week!

30 Words: My Peppermint Tea

In those days, I didn't have a salt lamp or a lap top.
I had a little patch of peppermint, under the faucet outside.
Memories, wonderful, awesome, bold
of freshly brewed tea!
