Beads From Shorts - Batch #2

Today was Day #2 of using my "shorts," and only my shorts to make beads. (This actually happened two days before you read this, so don't get confused on that! lol) Here's what I made today:
1) One set of flattened beads (5) center
2) One blue bird
3) One prototype of a head for a bobble head set for a wedding gift
4) Two mini beads for earrings
5) 4 cupcakes (I think I finally learned to make cupcakes!)
6) 4 butterflies for Beads of Courage

And the truth be told, it doesn't look like I made a dent in my box of shorts! Yikes!

This might go on longer than 2 weeks. What do you think?

Three Beautiful Things This Week

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1) I received this photo in an email, and does it describe the weather we have had! It's been HOT and HUMID! However, I'm NOT complaining. 6 months from now, we'll be covered in snow and will still be freezing our butts off. I can live with this weather. I'm grateful for it! It's warm!

2) Pixie continues to have gas! The bad news is that her gas is loud. The good news is that because of her love for Activia Light, her gas no longer smells. I am most grateful for that accomplishment!

3) I am also EXTREMELY grateful for the good test results that Jenny had after her first week of chemo. Everything is normal! Praise God! Thank You, Lord!

So What Have You Been Making for BOC?

Here's my latest batch of beads for Beads of Courage. They really do need more beads for their Acts of Courage! They mean so much to the kids!

So, what have you been making for the Beads of Courage Acts of Courage beads?

I forgot to add, this was Day #1 of using my "shorts" to make beads! So far, so good. No real dent yet!

My Personal Challenge

No, this challenge is nothing spiritual or even related to cancer. See this box of "shorts." There are a lot of beads to be made. Using this box of "shorts," and only this box, I plan to make beads, shards, murrini for two weeks, unless, the box empties sooner.

In a couple of weeks, I'll show the results of the work and the empty box, I hope.

I strongly suspect that Beads of Courage will benefit from this box!

Funding Multiple Myeloma Research

This is taken from my son's Facebook post about the multiple myeloma run he participates in to raise funds for research for that disease. I won't add any more. I think Nick says it the best.

Ok, it is my time to ask for your help. I started a fund raising website through the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation website. I am running a 5k to raise money for the MMRF. As you know, I lost my father to Multiple Myeloma, and in a weird twist of fate, my sister Jenny K Hoffman now has Multiple Myeloma. So, i...f you have any extra cash, "coin," "bank," "bread," "skrilla," "Hamilton's," (or whatever it is the kids are saying these days), please sponsor me in the 5k by following the link attached. Or if you are feeling real ambitious, there is a link where you can sign up for the 5k and you can run along side with me. Or if you are in shape you can pass me by and watch me barely cross the finish line. Thank you in advance for your support. And you will get tired of seeing me post this link.
