Three Beautiful Things This Week

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1) The leaves are changing color and falling very quickly. The weather has been beautiful. What a glorious Indian Summer. We've had two days of 90+ temperatures! That is amazing!

2) Jenny came home to help me celebrate my birthday. We had a great time! Since I needed a lot of computer work done, she gave me that as my birthday present. I was delighted! Nick called to wish me a happy birthday. All in all, it was a great time!

3) There have still been more birthday celebrations this week. My friends are awesome! Thank you all for the cards, the gifts, and the birthday wishes!

Zentangles and such

I was reading Sharon Driscoll's blog the other day when she posted an article about zentangles. Click on the link for more information about zentangles. Since one of my goals is to improve the creative side of my brain. I decided to give zentangling a try. Zentangling is considered to be both a left and right brain exercise. As a side note, it is very relaxing to do.

Here are some of my zentangles. I am truly amazed at what comes out of my brain. Not that my zentangles are that great, but they are interesting!

See this face? I didn't know it was in my brain.

Here, I see a lion with his nose, his mouth and his mane. Hmmmmm.

I'm not sure what brought on this face, but it is interesting. Is it a bit of Picasso?

I like this zentangle, but I'm not sure why. This doodle reminds me of a fern in a jungle.

So, the question needs to be asked. Do you zentangle? What do you think of it?

A New Etsy Store - Fibre Towne

Maggie is a lampwork bead artist, and now she is a spinner of yarn. Maggie took up spinning about a year ago. She started with a spindle and now has graduated to a wheel. Look at this yarn! She has gorgeous yarns in her Etsy store Fibre Towne.

It's called Autumn Vineyard Homespun yarn. This is a worsted weight yarn and it is gorgeous! Maggie knows her yarn. I didn't realize that there was so much to know.

Look at this nummy yarn! Maggie has titled it Cherry Twist Experiment Homespun. Beautiful! You can find it here.

Have you ever seen wool in its natural state? Here's a sample from Maggie's store. Even without the dye, it is beautiful!!!! It's called, appropriately, Au Naturel. The title fits. Don't you just love it?

Even though there are many other beautiful yarns in Maggie's shop, this is one of my favorites. Maggie has called it: Spooky Experiment. Isn't this a fun yarn? Maggie calls this yarn an experiment in plying. Like I said, she knows her yarn.

Don't waste your time, get over to Fibre Towne. Take a look at all of those great yarns!

Huh? What's that?

Glass will never cease to amaze me with it's beauty and function. Now, this work of functional art is in London. Guess what? It's an artistic version of our port a potty. It's called Don't Miss a Sec, and it gives the, um, user a view of London while still protecting the privacy of the, um, user. I found the story and photo here. What do you think? Would you use this outdoor art toilet? I'm not sure. I'd have to have a good scout on the outside just to keep a lookout, I think. How do you feel?

Inspiration is Everywhere!
Treasures Found!
Enjoy the day!

These are signature statements of Erin Prais Hintz who
also writes an inspiring blog, maintains a wonderful web site, and has amazing jewelry designs in her Etsy store.
You can find this one here.

Erin says in her Blogger profile:
Does that give you a clue as to what kind of amazing, busy, designing young woman you are about to meet?

I had the privilege of meeting Erin at this year's Bead and Button Show. As inspiring as she is in her jewelry designing and her writing, she is even more inspiring in person. I was thrilled to be able to meet and talk with her, if only for a short time! I left my meeting with Erin happy, thrilled, and inspired! She's an amazing young woman.

I found this necklace and earring set in Erin's Etsy store. You can find it here. The set is one of a kind. When I saw it, I said, "Wow!" Now, I feel inspired to make some jewelry. Huh? Who said that?

This necklace, Petit Fleurs, was featured in the Best of Stringing 2009. Isn't this amazing? It fits all the criteria. This necklace is inspiring. This necklace is
WOW! She did it again!

So, be sure to visit Erin's Etsy Store, and as Erin says, "Enjoy the Day!"
