One of my favorite Christmas Carols is "Silent Night."
However, even though I dearly love this song,
I also love the more literal translation of the same song in Spanish.
Using Babel Fish and a little bit of editing,
I am going to share this song with you.
The translation might not be totally accurate, but I like it.
Noche de paz, noche de amor,
(Night of peace, Night of Love)
Todo duerme en derredor.
(All are sleeping all around)
Sobre el santo niño Jesús
(Between the stars Announcing Baby Jesus,)
Una estrella esparce su luz,
(Who scatter their beautiful light,)
Brilla sobre el Rey, Brilla sobre el Rey.
(The Peace Star Shines, The Peace Star Shines.)
Noche de paz, noche de amor,
(Night of Peace, Night of Love,)
Todo duerme en derredor;
(All are sleeping, all around)
Fieles velando allí en Belén
(They only guard in the dark in Bethlehem,)
Los pastores, la madre también,
(The shepherds who are in the field,)
Y la estrella de paz, Y la estrella de paz.
(And the Star of Peace, and the Star of Peace.)
And now it's Christmas Eve. May the Holy Child of Bethlehem bless you and keep you protected in His Love.
Merry Christmas!
Mallory! I love this translation almost as much as the English. Wow, thanks for sharing it. The Peace Star Shines. . . what a lovely thought.
