Now, I goofed!

You see my polymer clay seahorse?
Well, I goofed.  I think I should have added a base when I baked the sea horse.  I thought I could do it later, but the tail won't allow me to do so, or at least, I'm not sure it will.

Any suggestions on how to get a polymer clay base all the way up the mandrel?  I have visions of a sand and seascape going up the sea horse's little butt.

Help?  Please?
