And the Winners Are!!!!!!!!

Well, there were two winners for this blog give away, and I need for them to contact me, please. If for some reason the link doesn't link, contact me either on Etsy or post on this blog. I need to get your snail mail address.

There were two prizes. One is the pint jar full of nubs and the other prize is a bead made from nubs. See the photo below the nubs.

Moon Katty Studios was the first to post, so you will get first choice as to whether you would like the nubs or the bead. Let me know in your reply. Congratulations and thank you for entering!

The second place winner is:
Lori Anderson of Pretty Things!
Thank you for entering! I have more nubs if you would like them rather than the bead. Just let me know, Lori!

Again, thank you both for entering!

Blog Give Away! Nubs!

I have decided to have another blog give away. This time, I'm giving away a jar of my nubs! If you know me, when it comes down to glass, I want to use every little bit of glass. I have done many things using my nubs, but this time, I am going to give away a jar of my nubs. All you have to do to win is to guess how many nubs are in this jar. I'm going to show you 3 views of the jar and tell you that it is a pint glass jar. It's the kind you use when you make jelly. I will also tell you that there are no spectacular types of glass in the jar. They are scraps from Vetrofond and Moretti glass nubs.

To win, just enter your guess on this blog. I will choose the winner in a week, on November 3. I will announce the winner on November 4. So, go ahead, just enter a guess. It's that easy.

Now, I also realize that not all my readers are glass people. I also realize that even if you are a glassy person, you might not want my nubs, so I have an alternative give away, if you don't want my nubs. (It's okay if you don't.) I made a bead from my nubs. That is my alternate give away. If you win, and would like the bead instead of the nubs, you may choose that. It's up to you.

Here are 3 views of the bead.

So, if you win, will you choose the NUBS or the BEAD? Good luck! I hope someone comments!

It's so interesting to look back at your work

As I was cleaning the other day, (Did I say the "c" word?), I happened across one of my very first vessels.
Now, if you know me, you know I love vessels and I love to use up my scraps and nubs of glass.
I was so surprised to find this vessel huddled in a corner,
covered by a book,
so that it wasn't visible unless you moved the book to c-l-e-a-n.

I have to admit, I was impressed with this vessel. It wasn't blown. I shaped it on the end of a big holed mandrel.
Best of all, this vessel is full of scraps. There is a partial twistie that didn't go all the way around the lip.

Creatively, I added dots that were supposed to be roses.
I was a real newbie when I made this vessel.

I took the rest of the cane, and swirled it around the vessel making "roses" and lines for decoration.
Here you can see that I even rolled the vessel in frit and tried to add a point at the end with a dot of clear.

I think I made this for an exchange but decided it wasn't good enough to send in.
Wow!
Now, I'm glad I kept it!
Any suggestions on how to wire wrap this vessel so that I can wear it?
I really like it!
What a wonderful memory to touch and hold.
