Plastic and Pearls!

I found these at a local thrift store.
As you can see, I paid $1.61 for this entire bag of beads, I mean toys.
Here's a better look.

I sorted the bag into what I thought would be useable beads, really beads.
Cubes

Spheres

Body parts

Flower discs

Here's what happened.  This necklace looks great as I wear it!
The body parts add that special touch.
I also used glass pearls as spacers.
Love this!  It's a choker.

A bracelet with glass pearls and a "charm" I found in the toys.

Last but not least, the flower discs with pearls make great earrings!!

So, what do you think?
Have you ever done anything this silly before?

I Heart Pearls!

Sometimes I think that those beautiful, lovely pearls are cast aside for the more funky beads available today.
Don't get me wrong,
I love the funky beads,
but I also love the elegance of the simple pearl whether it be a cultured pearl, a fresh water pearl, or a glass pearl.
I wore this pearl necklace this moring.
It was actually my offering for Bead Star this year, and it made the finals!
I'm thrilled it did, and I'm glad it didn't get chosen because, now, I can wear this necklace whenever I want to wear the necklace!
So, how do you feel about pearls?

I love my pearls!

Bead Star

I'm so excited to report that two of my entries in this year's Bead Star competition were chosen as finalists in this year's contest!
 I named this entry
There are a lot of pearls in this one!
Obviously, Pearl Soup is in the Pearl Gallery.
is my entry in the Crystals gallery.
So far, I have a total of 5 votes.
Changes were made this year in the contest.
If you want to vote,
you do have to register to become a member of the Beading Daily community.
That process is quick and easy.
I've been a member of the Beading Daily community for a few years now.
I receive some very interesting emails from Beading Daily about beads, jewelry making, designers, and the list goes on.
If you choose not to join,
you can still peruse the galleries to see the wonderful works of wearable art that were entered in this year's competition.
Enjoy the journey!
