There are so many people who have this chronic disease but don't know it.

go to the doctor!  Diabetes is a manageable disease, but it needs to be managed.

Word for 2011: Detail

My life word is: Hope!

My work word is: Detail!
I have been told that some of my work is not as "detailed" as others. In 2011, I plan to change that.

As I look around Etsy at some of my favorite bead artists,
I notice the "detail" in their work.
For example,
Look at Marcy Lamberson's work.
Here's an angel in her shop.
Notice the detail.
She holds a small blue bird in her hand.
Her dress has dots.
Her wings have creases.
Her cheeks are pink, and she wears a green halo.
Isn't Tansy sweet?
Like Oprah says, "It's all in the details."
And she's right!
Skully in Love is from Sharon Driscoll's store,
Right Turn ArtWerks.
Notice Skully's details.
His face is full of hearts.
The hearts are different colors and sizes.
His teeth are wide but perfectly spaced.
Each decoration on Skully adds a bit more detail to his face.
He is Skully in love!

This little ewe is from Nikki, aka Sheep Goddess aka NLC Beads.
She is a Blue Suede Sheep.
Each dot is topped with another blue suede dot.
Her ears are turned over.
She has a nose and eyes that just say, "Love me!"
She is simple, but very complicated.
Each dot adds a detail.
Details!
Look at this sweet 'gator from MayBeads' shop.
This gator has toe nails. He has nostrils and a mouth.
Little green dots are his scales.
His hat has pom poms.
His eyes say, "Take me home!
Yes, it's all in the details.

Meet Melvin from Paula's store, Island Top Glass Art.
Again, details.
Notice the little pocks on his cheeks.
His tongue hangs out of his mouth like he's panting.
His snout is creased.
His eyes beg you to rub his ears, which are each a different color.
Details.
I look forward to adding more detail to my minimalist beads.

Guess Who's Going into Space on the Space Shuttle?

BLAST OFF!

On May 14, 2010, the space shuttle will be lifting off into space with some fabulous cargo for Team Beads of Courage. See that space dog?

Although Lauren Mazursky of May Beads on Etsy will not be going on the Shuttle, the Space Dog she made will be! When the Space Dog returns to earth, it will be given to a child in the Beads of Courage program on earth. Lauren's bead was selected, along with several others, to fly on the shuttle into space. Now how cool is that? Congratulations, Lauren and the Space Dog!

A Down Day and a Friend Made My Day

Isn't this just the sweetest little turtle you've ever seen? Can you imagine my surprise when I opened up an unexpected package and found this wonderful little guy in it? Wow! This really brought a smile to my face and lifted up my soul on a very down day! What a special treat! Not only that, I found a package of murrini from a much treasured stash by Lauren of Maybeads on Etsy!

Thank you, Lauren, you have no idea how much your sweet gift meant to me, and it came at a time when it was most needed.

When You Need a Good Laugh!

Lauren is my round robin partner this week in Fire Divas. I was so excited when I found that out because I love her products.

















I nearly covered my computer screen with diet coke when I saw these. Do you know what they're called? Nice set! I did a little bit of personal research. You know, I think those beads are a nice set!























Now, who else but Lauren would come up with this idea--A Turtle Taxi! That might not have brought the huge laugh of the nice set, but this sure brought a much needed smile to my face!
