Weekly Photo Challenge - Winter

This year we have had very little moisture.
That includes snow.
This was the biggest snow we have had this winter.
And now,
it's mostly gone!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Abundance

It's official!
We've had 80.5 inches of snow this season,
with more on the way,
today and early next week!
Our normal average is 44.5 inches.
We exceeded that amount in December when we got
36 inches of snow that month alone.
We really had a white Xmas!

Some of our snow has melted.
Some of our snow has been packed down by the weight of new snow.
We still have an abundance of snow.
Want to see?
Take a look at this!

New Project

Take one, very thin, slightly bald, but very loving dog.

Add to that- the very cold start of the winter season.

What do you have?
One very cold dog who loves and needs to be covered up to keep warm--even during the day.

So what do you do when you can't be there to cover her up and keep her warm? You google: patterns dog sweaters.
I found a wonderful site called greyhound crafts. You can find it here. There are lots and lots of goodies there for greyhounds. I found a sweater pattern. I printed out the copy that I am allowed to print out. I bought the yarn. Now, I'm ready to start.

Yes, it's going to be pink. I also bought a pattern for a snood to be worn around her neck and over her ears. I think the sweater will be my priority though. She's one cute, but cold, little hound.
Stay tuned. I'll be showing progress soon, I hope!

Yeah or Nay? Iced Tea in the Winter!

I get it. Minnesota winters will put hair on the most delicate of chests.
50 degrees is considered tank top and sandal weather. So, why is it getting more difficult to order iced tea at a restaurant in the cool months of the year? Beats me! Restaurants are taking it off their menus!

What do you think: Yeah or Nay for iced tea in the winter?

The Perfect Garden

When you live in Minnesota, you expect a long winter, a short fall, a very short spring, and a medium length summer. Usually, at the first sign of a warm day, the true gardeners are outside raking and cleaning up the gardens to get ready for the first planting, the first tulip, the first day when they can be outside puttering in their beautiful gardens. I am not one of those gardeners. I'd be happy just watching my garden grow from afar.

Knowing this, I had to ask myself, what would be the perfect garden for me. Here are pictures of my garden as it looks right now.

In my perfect garden, there would be flowers blooming all the time--even in winter. Winter would not kill the perfect rosebush or make it go dormant. Flowers would bloom all year long.

Some bushes and plants would have two different types of flowers on them. They would bloom profusely and never go dormant.

This rosebush, which has been in the same place in the garden for over 20 years, would bloom profusely. In the twenty years it has been here, it has bloomed only one time, and that was for my daughter's graduation. The flowers were bountiful and fragrant. Since then, the rosebush has not bloomed again.

My beautiful little herb garden would never need weeding. (Actually, none of my garden would ever need weeding!) The herbs would overflow with their pungent fragrances and taste. Now, that would be awesome!

The perfect garden would also have the perfect gardener. That would be Raul with his shirtless body steaming in the sun. His muscles rippling as he plunged the shovel into the garden----Wait!

Wrong fantasy! Oh, well, at least you know what my perfect garden would be like!
