Thank you all for this past year!!! Here's a free, easy peasy fiber bead tutorial to say: THANK YOU!

Fiber beads are quick and easy to make.
They make great beads for earrings because they are very lightweight.
Not, only that, you can make them look plain and simple or very elegant.
Here's how.
Here's what you need.

Supplies

4" craft wire cut into two 2 inch pieces
round nose or rosary pliers
nylon jaw pliers
wire cutters
ruler
scissors
2 yards yarn cut into one yard segments
clear tacky glue

Directions

1) Using your nylon jaw pliers, straighten your wire before cutting it.

2)  Cut your wire into 2 pieces of wire 2" long.

3) Make two eye pins with your wire.

4) Cut the fiber into two lengths of 1 yard each.  If you use fabric, you would probably use less in terms of yardage.

5) Add a small drop of glue to your wire.

6) Make a small tail on your wire and wrap the fiber over and around the tail covering the glue.

7)  Going up and down the wire, wrap your fiber on the wire.

8)  Add a small drop of glue to the tail of the fiber to hold it in place.

9) Let the glue dry.

10)  Add ear wires for earrings or make more beads for a necklace or bracelet.

Easy Peasy!!!

We all have bad days...

and yesterday was my turn to have a bad day.  So, in between bouts of damper, I made roses.  I love to make roses, and I checked Pinterest.  For whatever reason, I did a search of rosebud101, and guess what I found?  Some of you wonderful people had pinned some of my beads!!  Boy, did that make me feel good, so I just want to say

THANK YOU!

Bad day is over.  Today is a much better day!  Thank you!!!

In this Month of Gratitude and Thanksgiving, I want to say THANK YOU to anyone who reads this blog by...

Giving you these banners to use in your Etsy stores.
Even if you don't have an Etsy store, you can still download them and use them as you would like.
Now, here's my problem.
I don't know how to put a download button on this page.
Jenny said that she would show me at Thanksgiving.
So, until then, what you will need to do to download these banners is to
right click on the banners you would like,
click on save as,
and the banner will download to your computer.
Each one has to be done individually until I learn how to add a download button.
You will also need to add your own text using whatever program you have.
You can do this with Picassa or Photoshop.
Thank you!
All the banners are made from photos I have taken.
I give you permission to use them!
 I hope you enjoy them.
If you choose to use them, send me the links to your store.
I'd love to see what you do with them.
Thank you for sticking with me this far!
Our journey is just beginning!

Glass Corsages

Last year,
at the Bead and Button Show,
I took a class taught by
Sara Sally LaGrand
called
Glass Corsage.
I will never regret that class
because it was
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
I made a corsage then,
and
I have enjoyed it so much
that I thought I should make one for spring!
I have been making components for a while.
I ended up with enough components to make,
not one,
but two glass corsages.
One I will wear.
The other will go into my living room as a sculpture for all to see.
Here they are.
This is the corsage I will wear.

This is the one I will display in my living room!
I just love them!
Thanks, Sara Sally!

Three Beautiful Things This Week

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1) I had to take my car in for repairs. That was most annoying, however, it was diagnosed honestly and was repaired perfectly by a business, Mankato Tire and Oil, that I trust will tell me the truth and treat me fairly when it comes to taking care of my car. They were also much less expensive than our local Toyota dealer.

2) I found the first spring flowers in my yard--Dandelions! They really let me know that spring is REALLY here!

3) Today is an absolutely beautiful day! As I write, the temperature is 70 degrees. To me, this is perfect. Wow! I just saw what looked like a butterfly fly by. Wow! How great is this?

Bead Soup Party--Here's what I Made!

Sandra Neights of Marabella Jewelry Designs on Etsy was my Bead Soup partner. Be sure to visit her store. She has some beautiful pieces of handcrafted PMC pieces in her store. Gorgeous!

I was the lucky recipient of one of her pieces in my bead kit! Look at that focal! Because of that beautiful focal, I decided that it deserved to be the center of attention in my design.
As per the rules, I used the focal bead and the clasp in my design. Oh, my, it is beautiful! I can hardly wait to wear this bracelet!

Thank you, Lori, for such a wonderful match!

Here are a list of all the party participants. Have a look. I've seen some amazing works of art already this morning.

Two Powerful Words in Any Language

In November, we will be hearing these words a lot. I feel that they are two of the most powerful words in any language. They rank up there with "I love you" and "I'm sorry." Of course, you know what I mean. The words are "Thank you."

Since I make lampwork or flamework beads, I read the posts on two particular forums. The posts range from how to make your basic bead to things that happen in our everyday lives to what are HOT topics right now, "Copying" and "Contacting an artist about their work and how they made it."

The second topic of contacting an artist made me realize how much it means to say thank you to someone who has done something nice for you, whether it be answer your question or not answering your question, but taking the time to read your email. One frequest phrase that was used by artists who are contacted a lot with questions was, "When I sent them a reply, I never heard back from them. No one thanked me."

What does thank you do to the person thanked and for the person who thanks? Think about how you feel when someone genuinely thanks you for a kindness. I know that I feel good. Maybe it's the warm fuzzy kind of feeling or just a general feeling of "Wow! That was nice." I know a thank you, on any day, makes me feel good.

If you are the person doing the thanking, I feel it gives you a sense of how good things really are. In our world where things can become very frightening very quickly, saying thank you can remind a person, that there are still good things and good people in the world. There is hope for everyone when a kindness is acknowledged, and that hope is passed on to someone else with the words, "Thank you."

So, to all of my beading friends,
Thank you for being my friends, for standing there with me, for persevering and giving me hope when the economy is down. Thank you, I can't even express how much you all mean to me.
To all those who read my blog, even occassionally,
Thank you. I honestly do appreciate you taking the time to come here and read what I say, whether we agree or not.
To all those who so willingly share their knowledge of flameworked beads,
Thank you. Without your help, I would never have learned what I have learned.
To all those fabulous artists who show their work to the world,
Thank you. Our world needs the hope of your art. Please continue to inspire and lead us.
To all those who make us laugh,
Thank you, we need your sense of humor as the world turns. (Please pardon the pun.)
To all those whom I never thanked when I should have thanked you,
Thank you for your kindness and patience. I really do appreciate your help and many kindnesses.

A kindness is never wasted nor forgotten. Thank you.
