Mutch Hardware in lower North Mankato, located on Belgrade Avenue, right next to Christie's Cafe, is one of those fabulous treasures of a store! It's a mom and pop venture owned by Sandy and Dave Mutch. When I need something, I usually start my search there. Even when I am looking for the odd item or two, I walk in to look. Most days, my search ends there.
Earlier this week, a challenge was posted on a blog. I decided to go shopping at Mutch Hardware. It was my one and only stop.
Here are some of the things I bought: wire, copper tubes, washers, springs, and a few other items that I didn't photograph.
Why?
I have entered a blog challenge called: Inspired by...Hardware Stores. The blog name is: Treasures Found::Inspiration is Everywhere.
The rules were simple: Use a hardware store to inspire a piece of jewelry.
So, I drove to Mutch Hardware, and I shopped. I bought far more than I needed, but the result, if I say so myself, was spectacular! Take a look at this bracelet. It's made entirely from items at Mutch Hardware. I love it! I hope you do, too!
I made a viking knit out of the wire. I also made the look and clasp out of the copper wire I bought at Mutch's. I etched the copper tubes. I added some washers that I pounded for texture. For the ends, I used springs that I found in a drawer at Mutch's. So, what do you think? It's so much prettier in person! I plan to wear it a lot.
