Three Beautiful Things this Week!

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1) I made my plane reservations for the Bead and Button Show this week!  I can hardly wait!!  It should be a fun time!

2) The rains have returned!!!  We were in a drought for close to a year, and now, the rains are back!  The river is beginning to fill up again, and the grass is green!  That is beautiful!

3) Celebrated Cinco de Mayo with friends!  We ate Mexican food, and enjoyed each other's company.  That was fun!!!

Three Beautiful Things This Week

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1) Yahoo!  Our ten inches of snow did not materialize, but we did get an inch of rain which our local weatherman said would have been about 12 inches of snow!  We did get a little bit of snow, but it wasn't enough to worry about!  Hopefully, this month, we'll get more moisture, but I'd sure rather see rain than snow!

2) I found out the other day that I will be having cataract surgery this month!  I am so very happy!  At first the doc wanted to wait for a year, but then, when I told him my horror story of driving at night in the snow, he said, "How about a month."  I was thrilled.  I also found out that the doc has a great sense of humor.  As he was leaving the room I said, "Have you done this before?"  He turned to me, and with a straight face said, "I heard there's a video on YouTube.  I'll watch it the night before your surgery!"  I am so happy about this.

3) Pixie loves her thunder shirt!  I was finally able to get it off of her.  She snapped at me, and she's not a vicious dog.  She just loves her thunder shirt.  I washed the thunder shirt, and got it back on her.  She's happy.  I'm happy, but I think I have to buy another one.  I will need to wash it again.  I want her to be happy!  :0)

1) I am so enjoying my online class with Kim Klassen!   I am finally learning how to use Elements.  I've owned it for almost a year now, and I've been so afraid to use it.  Now, I can do some very basic things with Elements!  I can hardly wait to be able to play more.  Thank you, Pam Brisse, for sending me all those links, multiple times for this class!!!

2) My podiatrist is absolutely heartless, but thank goodness!!!!  My feet will heal with a lot of hard work.  Thank goodness for his "tough love."  I have a lot of hard work to do, but I think it's already helping!!

3) I think I'm finally getting well.  I've actually stayed dressed all day and moved around all day.  I didn't get a lot done, but I did get a couple of things done.  There is hope!  Things are good!

1) The new issue of Bead Design Studio came yesterday, and my headpins are featured on page 14!  That was a surprise and a thrill when I saw them there!!!!  Thanks, Pam!

2) Sister Alene and I had lunch yesterday!  It's always so great to get together with her!  She's such a sweetie.  Our server, a young man, came up and gave her a hug as we were leaving!  I love having lunch with her.

3) Pixie had a dream this week while she was sleeping.  She was wagging her tail!  I had never seen her do that before while she slept!  I was so happy!  She was having a good dream!

1)  I'm not sure where to begin.  I am so blessed!  Being with the kids for Christmas was wonderful!  I was able to enjoy both Jenny and Nick in the same room as adults.  We played Monopoly on my IPad.   We ate.  We went to church.  It was great!  I am truly blessed!

2) After Xmas, Nick and I cleaned the basement!  It was so needed.  Nick hauled the heavy stuff upstairs for me.  He helped me sort the old stuff.  He understood when I cried.  Anyway, it took a good day's work, but now the job is done!

3) Pixie is settled again.  When Jenny and the kitties were here, she would look at me with eyes that said HELP!  Walter still loves her.  Nick continues to be amazed at how much of a dog she's become.  These rescues are very special dogs!!!  If you are looking for a dog, I highly recommend a greyhound!

Three Beautiful Things This Week - A Day Late Because I Got My Days Mixed Up!

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1)  See the photo at the right?  This was taken in December of last year.  I am so glad we don't have that kind of snow this year!  It's truly a beautiful thing for me!

2) I started another online class called
12 Artsy Ornaments of Christmas!  It's really been fun so far!  Lots of talented teachers and projects that are at the perfect level of difficulty this time of year.

3) The Xmas season is beginning to speed up.  I will and do miss this time of year.  I do miss the hustle and bustle of the season.  It breaks up the monotony of winter.  I miss getting together with family and friends.  I miss the cookies, too!  Yes, I do like the holiday season for all the wrong reasons.  I also love it for the right reasons.  I only wish each day were longer.  There would be more time to enjoy it!

1)  It's been a very busy week.  I'm getting ready for a show in two weeks.  It's amazing how many ways I can multi task when the pressure is on!  I'm pleased with the results!

2)  Jenny has come home for the first time in ages!  I'm thrilled that she's feeling well enough to do this again.  I know it's still hard on her physically, but she's come a long way!  Her health is improving!  I am thrilled.

3)  Pixie has been guarding her couch with the kitties home.  She feels that her couch is only hers.  Of course, the kitties don't care.  The look at her and walk away.  I think that Walter is playing hard to get!  He loves Pixie, but he wants to be top cat!

1) Everyday I see Jenny feeling better.  She still tires very easily, but she is showing signs of real recovery from this transplant.  We meet with the doctors next week to learn the outcome of the transplant.  Fingers and toes are crossed.

2) Walter, one of Jenny's two cats, has decided he likes me, and he tries to sleep with me, at my head, when he can.
He and Pixie vie for the bed.  I usually only have one or the other on my bed.  Pixie is very sneaky about moving into Walter's territory on the bed, but you can see the look of determination that she has to get him off the bed with me.  Those two animals keep Jenny and I laughing all day.

3) The days have been hot, but the nights have been cool.  I love summer days like this!  The endless heat gives way to the quiet cool of the evening.  Sleep settles in on the waves of cool from the outside air.

1) Jenny's port was removed yesterday!  It's another step in the journey of healing.  Needless to say, she was very happy to have it gone!

2) Pixie's bandage was removed on Wednesday.  Needless to say, she was so happy not to have that thing on her leg.  I was happy that her injury healed so beautifully.  All's well that ends well.

3) We've had a lot of rain this week, and most of the time, when Pixie has needed to go for her walk to, well, you know, do her business, it hasn't been raining!  How's that for luck?  The two times it was raining, she decided that she didn't need to go far, and we were inside within 5 minutes!  I say, "Go, Pixie!"and she does!!!!

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

1) This came in the mail yesterday!  This was a day brightener.  I won this beautiful tag from Erin Prais Hintz in a blog giveaway on Art Bead Scene Blog.  I was thrilled.  Now, I have to let the creative juices flow because I want to make something very special with it.  Thank you, Erin!

2)  I'm back to torching!  The only problem is that I can't torch for long because of back and neck spasms.  The bad news is that I have spasms.  The good news is that I'm torching again!  Yahoo!

3) My IPad FINALLY arrived!  I do love it.  It's everything I thought it would be and more.  The ease of use is amazing.  I'll blog about this when I figure a few more things out!  I love it!   Was it worth the wait?  Yes, it was!

1) I have some wonderful friends, but Paula is one my best.  She spent the afternoon with me sorting through charms for the charms exchange that Deb Batten and I hosted on LE.  I could not have done it without her.  Her husband took this photo at the end of the afternoon!  We were both tired!!!!

2)  My IPad finally arrived in the United States!  I'm hoping it will be delivered today!!!!!  It's journey began in China, going to Hong Kong, to Twaiwan, then to 2 stops in Japan.  It cleared customs yesterday in Alaska, so, hopefully, it will be delivered today!  Woo Hoo!

3) It's still cool here, but I don't want to complain.  When I think of the devastation in the south from storms, I am incredibly grateful to have a home and a town that is not destroyed.  My prayers go to our suffering sisters and brothers in the south who have lost so much.

1) Even though the trees are still barren, and it's been cold
and the "S" word has fallen,
again,
I have to be glad that I have heat and a home in which to live.
I know that there are still so many who are homeless.
One of these days,
we will warm up and spring will come.
One of the weather forecasters said that for the last 5 months,
we have had snow!
I'm so ready for spring!!!

2) My IPad is FINALLY going to be delivered on the 28th!   I can hardly wait!  Did I say, the 28th?

3) Lunches with friends again this week.  It's great to get together and chat.  We catch up.  I'm grateful for my friends.

1) Although the weather has gotten COLD, AGAIN, and it makes you wonder if this is really April, we had some beautiful weather this week.  We even hit the 70 degree mark one day this week!  That was glorious!

2) Pixie was rooing on her own, yesterday, when the sirens started to wail..  The sirens were howling two times, and I heard that sweet dog roo very loudly each time the sirens wailed!  I've been waiting for this to happen!  Now, I want to teach Pixie that it's all right to bark!

3) My knees are feeling so much better.  The therapy is working!  Money well spent!

1) The Twin Cities Bead Bazaar went very well! I was able to reconnect with old friends and meet many new friends! As you can see from the photo, Pixie and Walter simply ignored each other, but they did get along. It was great to see the kitties and Pixie together. Marvin even got close to Pixie for the first time! Looks like she's part of their pack when we're there!

2) Since getting home, I have made progress with the taxes and catching up. I feel good about that.

3) Looks like my favorite son will be coming home in two weeks! I'm very excited about that! It will be so good to see him again! What great news!

1) As I get ready for the bead show in just one short week, I feel that I am making progress! Things, as they seem to do, no matter how much I stress, seem to come together much more smoothly than I could ever begin to expect.

2) My order from Rio Grande Jewelry Supplies came yesterday! It was a treat to have my supplies arrive! I am easily pleased.

3) At last, winter is starting to give way to spring! In spite of the fact that our snow total to date is 84.5 inches, our predicted high for today is 44 degrees! After all the snow and cold, it is nice to begin to feel the prospect of spring!

1) I love finding small "treasures" that I put away so that I would know where they were then promptly forget where I put them. Later, I find these "treasures," and I am able to rejoice that I found them. This bead was one of the treasures that I found this week. I had put the box that contained this small treasure and others away. I honestly thought they were ugly. Now, I am looking at the beads with different eyes. They aren't ugly. They are beautiful! I am so happy to have found these beads! I often wonder, how many other, "small treasures" I will find when I clean out my special hiding places! I was thrilled!

2) A friend called me yesterday because she had been thinking about me. She called to say some very nice things to me about me. She said she felt that I needed lifting up. How right she was, it was just the lift I needed. I couldn't believe how wonderful it was to hear what she said to me about my bead making! My heart was soaring by the time we finished our conversation! Thank you!

3) Pixie has finally decided that in order to get an extra ear rub, she needs to go outside, not once, not twice, but five times in one morning! I watched her! The little sweetheart did her business the first two times, but the last three were just for show and to get those ear rubs that are her reward for being good! I thought it was sweet when she would come in and put her head on my thigh with her ears turned up for that ear rub. Of course, I knew she was faking, but she got her ear rubs anyway!!

1) Even though our sunshine was classified as "non-productive," it was still sunshine and it was beautiful! Pixie lay in the sun soaking up the rays for such a long time, I thought she might get sunburned.

2) Life has a way of surprising the heck out of me! Some things happened this week, that I won't detail here, that truly left me saying, "Huh?" They were okay, but I did say, "Huh?"

3) My hairdresser asked me if I had lost weight. All right, I tipped her well, but that sure made my day!

1) Things are heading back to normal again, whatever that is! Pixie and I are back home, and Jenny is resting so that she can return to work on Monday. The ordeal of the stem cell harvest is over, and now we can get on with our lives. Pixie is happy to be home. Jenny is happy to be home. I'm happy to be home, and life is returning to normal.

2) I "met" my Bead Soup partner this week, Cindy Dolezal. She's a ceramic bead artist and jewelry designer! Her beads are on the way to me, and I hope to get hers off to her in the coming week. This Bead Soup Party is going to be fun!

3) There wasn't much snow this week. I was glad about that. It's that time of the season when the brutal cold moves in and the snow continues to float down from the skies. It's the time of the year that I'm glad to stay home. The days are getting longer, though, and that's very good! I just wish they weren't so cold and white!

1) Duh!!!! Jenny produced enough stem cells for 4 transplants, if she needs them! It was a rough ride for her, but now that part of the journey is over!

2) We are home! I don't think anything more needs to be said about that.

3) Today will be my first day back on the torch. Now, I have to decide, what to make? what to make?

Three Beautiful Things This Week - A Day Early!

Three Beautiful Things This Week was inspired by a wonderful blog that Clare writes called Three Beautiful Things. Everyday, Clare writes about 3 Beautiful Things that happen each day in her life. It's a wonderful blog! I can only hope to imitate her in a very small way.

(In case you're wondering, this is a sneak peek of Lorelei's 2nd Michael's Challenge to be revealed tomorrow! I wonder what this will be when it's finished?)

1) I was invited, today, to do a trunk show in January and to teach a class at the same bead store. I am thrilled to be able to do that!

2) The snow started to whisper it's way down to the ground again today. There is enough snow pack now so that things are not as slippery as they were before. However, that did not stop me from getting stuck in the ice and snow in my own driveway. Now, how embarrassing is that? I had to laugh as I made a cookie in the driveway and got stuck in the snow. It took a little while, but I was able to get out of the snowbank and on to the road where it was not as icy! The best part was that I didn't need to call a tow truck. I'm sure the neighbors were chuckling as they watched me work up a sweat trying to get out on to the road!

3) I only have a little bit left, and I'm finished with my Christmas shopping! That will be so nice!
Now, I only have to make the house more Christmas friendly for the kids and get ready for the show and class! That will make for interesting work!
