Ursula Lengyel Studio on Etsy

The reason I found Ursula Lengyel was because I was bored one night, but now, I am so glad that I was bored. One some nights when I am bored, I do what I call, blog hop. I go up to the tool bar on Blogger, and I hit next blog. It took a bit, but I finally found Urusla's blog. There are some works of art and certain artists to whom I take iimmediately. Ursula is one of those rare artists whose work jumps out at me.

This painting, available in Ursula's etsy store, is called Marie. It is her take on Marie Antoinette. I love the face on Marie, and the colors chosen by the artist. She seems a bit pensive, and I think, are you wondering what the peasants will say when you say, "Let them eat cake."

This painting is called "Peace." The angel seems to be very much at peace and looking to us to grow in peace! Love it!

This painting is called "All Dressed Up." I see the young woman all dressed up but waiting for someone special. Notice the glitter in her hair.

This angel is looking above and beyond our earth. Isn't she lovely? This work of art is called "It will be good."

You can find more of Ursula's work in both her Etsy and Artfire stores. Be sure to look. You won't be disappointed.

Shameless Self Promotion Day!

Once in a while, I believe in Shameless Self Promotion. Today is that day! I've listed some new things in both my Etsy and Artfire stores.

These discs and rounds are in my Etsy store. I love the colors. They're soft and very fall.

I call this set Autumn Bundle, and it's in my Etsy store.

These murinni are also in my Etsy store. They are called Tidal Pools.

Now, we're off to my Artfire Store.

This bead is in my Artfire Store. I'm really proud of it. Murinni Flowers on Yellow Burst. I really like this one!

Aren't these fun and funky? They are in my Artfire store! They are called Jeans Appeal.

This Tribal Mask is in my Artfire store, too!

Well, thanks for looking! More to follow in a while.

Like Discs? I have Discs!

Lately, I've been making discs. I love discs! There are so many uses for them. You can add discs to necklaces or bracelets. You can even make rings. Since this is going to be a shameless self promotion day, you'll get to see some of my offerings.

I made this bracelet for last month's Art Bead Scene Blog's monthly challenge. I listed this in my Etsy Store.

These discs are called Albuquerque Sunrise. I was always an early bird, and these colors remind me of the colors of an Albuquerque Sunrise. They are in my etsy store.

This set of discs called Toxic Blue is in my Artfire Store.

This set is called "On the Edge," and it's also in my Artfire store.

This necklace is called Ripening Olives, and it's in my 1000Markets store. Note the ruffled disc in the center of the necklace.

That's it for today. No more shameless self promotion for a while!

What no Glass? Fiber Bits

As I write this, I am watching a White Castle Commercial that shows a pig pulling a cord and being bathed in BBQ sauce. What does this have to do with Fiber Bits? Absolutely nothing. I just thought you should know that fiber bits are not improbable nor are they ridiculous as that commercial.

Back to fiber bits. What are fiber bits. They are components that you can use in jewelry. They have a metal base and are covered with different types of fibers. If you check out my etsy store and my artfire store, you'll find some fiber bits.

These fiber bits are in my etsy store. If you are an old Star Trek fan, and you remember the episode called "The Trouble with Tribbles," you might remember Tribbles. These particular fiber bits remind me of tribbles. I don't know why, but they do.

These fiber bits, which are in my artfire store, remind me of sand dollars on the ocean floor. Do you see that, too?

Here are some earrings I made using fiber bits. They are really cute, and they are in my etsy store.

I love fiber bits. No, they aren't glass, but they are fun components to use in jewelry. Who makes them? I do. Check out my shops. You might like them, even if they aren't glass!

I'm a Shards Junkie!

Shards are broken pieces of glass. In lampworking terms, they are still broken pieces of glass, but more than that, they are thin, broken pieces of glass. In the last month, I have become a shards junkie. I love to use shards on my beads! If I could figure out a way to use them on discs, I would. I make my own shards. That process is so relaxing! I love making shards! I love using shards! Can you tell I like shards?
All of these beads are in my Artfire store. Take a look.

At last, THE CHALLENGE!

Let me first begin by apologizing. I lost (I guess I hit the quick delete button, AGAIN, or something) two of the photos that were sent to me. Not only that, I don't know who sent them. To you wonderful unknown artists, I'm sorry. I screwed up.

Now, to the challenge. About 3 weeks ago, I posted 2 pictures of my lava lamp. I love my lava lamp! Here's one of the photos. I'm only going to post one because both photos were the same with just a slight difference in color.
I then challenged anyone who chose to do so, to send me a photo of a work of art that they created using this photo as an inspiration. I assumed that the photos would be of glass works, but any thing could be sent. I did receive one drawing. I lost it. I'm sorry.

Here are two of the 4 responses I received. Again, I'm sorry to the unknown artists.

This photo is from Diane. She's ddbeader on Wet Canvas. I looked at the links from her signature there. Wow! I'm impressed! In addition to managing a web site, she has two other blogs, Diane's Watercolors and Diane's Water Color blog! They are amazing places to visit. But wait, she doesn't stop there, she also has an etsy store and an artfire store. I got tired just from visiting all these places! I don't know how she does it! Be sure to visit her blogs and stores. Wow! You won't be disappointed. Amazing!

These two images were submitted by Louise Ingram, another WC friend. She's also known as
Fire Seed glass. Louise is well known for her monkeys. Just remember, you want to monkey around, Louise is your gal for that! Check out her great stuff!

Louise is another artist who wears me out! She also has an artfire store and an etsy store. You've got to go and see her monkeys! They are just great! I am the proud owner of one of her two faced monkeys, and it's a fabulous addition to my collection! wow!

Thank you to everyone who sent me an entry! Next challenge, I'll make sure I'm much more organized. Have fun and enjoy these stores and websites!

Christmas is Over. The Kids have gone Home.

So, it's back to work! I just listed these items in my Etsy Store, my 1000Markets Store, and my Artfire Store.

As much as I enjoyed Christmas and having the kids home, it's time to get back on track! Darn it!
Here's what I listed in my Etsy store.

I call these discs "Ivory Snow." I used a base of ivory, then in between the layers of ivory I used different transparent colors. I love these beads.

I'd like to present to you, "Boomer, the Angel Fish Button!"

Yes, Boomer is a button and a fish. He's in my 1000 Markets store.

Last, but not least, is Brother Bear. He was fun to make.

I used my handblown shards and fine silver wire. I twisted and turned the molten glass. I just had fun with this creature.

Well, only one more major holiday, and that's the New Year! I can't believe it's going to be 2009! It will still be time for work.
