Easy Peasy Wire Earring Tutorial - Doodles in a Half An Hour or Less

These earrings are quick and easy to make.
You can add a little bead on the end to dangle.
I will later, but for now,
I didn't.
So here's what you need.

A mandrel - I used an American sized 13 knitting needle
2 feet of 20g craft wire
a pair of ear wires
a ruler
a pair of wire cutters
a pair of round nose pliers

Take each 12 inch length of wire and wrap around your mandrel in a tight spiral.

Remove the wire from the mandrel and flatten.

Slowly and gently pull the flattened wires apart until they are the same length.

Make a loop on each end of the wire.
Attach one loop of each wire to an ear wire.
(Optional: add a wire wrapped bead to the other end of the looped wire.)
There you have it!

The Clay that Wanted to be what I didn't want it to be, but it became what it wanted to be

I needed to use up some clay.
I had accepted a challenge to create a textured object such as a bowl.
So I gathered up the clay.
I put them in a ball and mushed and twisted and turned and flattened.
I was determined to make a bowl.
Well, my first attempts just didn't work.
I decided I'd make a coiled bowl.
That's when the clay took over.
I had no choice.
This is what happened.

Sticks of clay that became earrings.

Braids became a bracelet.

Flattened clay became feathers for a pendant in my necklace.
I had no choice.
The clay rules!!!

I don't know how I missed the original post, but
I did.
So now, I'm late to the party, but
I'm going anyway!!!
Art Jewlery Elements is having an
The challenge is broken into 13 week segments, and the goal is to make a pair of earrings a week.
Now, I'm a bit behind, so, I better get caught up.
I made some components.
Not all of them are ready to be made into earrings yet, but they will be soon.
I'm thinking spring!!
These will be, obviously, hoops!!!

Bacon and eggs anyone?
These need a patina before they are ready.

Instead of candy, how about asymmetrical hearts?

These need some sanding and a patina.
Soon.  Soon!

The symbol of hope.
The Ghinko!

Puppy love!!!

Fantasy birds!!!

We'll see how many of these sets become earrings.
I'll show them when they are finished!!!

Earrings. So What do You think?

If you've followed my blog for any time at all,
you will notice that I don't show earrings.
The truth is,
I used to not be able to make nice earrings.
Well, I'm proud to say,
that with this show coming up at the end of the month,
I was forced to make earrings.
Things have progressed.
Take a look and let me know what you think

I really like these!!!

I mixed metals in these.  They honestly look better in person than in the photo.

I used some upcycled metal beads in this pair of earrings.
I like the contrast of the clear and the metal.

I made this pair using my antiquities beads.  Love them.

You could wear these to a spectacular winter party or to work.
The photo doesn't do them justice at all!!!

So what do you think?
Like them?

Have You Checked out Jenny's Picks Lately?

Have you checked out the section in my Etsy Store called Jenny's Picks?   When an item in this section is sold, the money goes to Jenny to help with her expenses  as she battles Multiple Myeloma.  I have a variety of items in that section.  Most are finished, including this vessel.  I really like it, but then I really like red, too!!!  If you would like to have a closer look, try clicking here, but I can tell you right now, blogger is acting up, and it won't let you click there, so try HERE.  That should work!

I have to figure out a better way to shoot this, but it's a mini mobile!  This brand new.  I wish you could see it in person!  It's so pretty!  I love it.  Click here for a somewhat better look.

I've also added a Rosary Bracelet to this section.  I love the one I made for me, and I'm sure that someone will love this one!  I plan to add more bracelets soon.  I just need the time to make them!  Click HERE for a better look.

Got a taste for bacon and eggs?  How about some earrings?  These would really be fun to wear, especially if you love bacon and eggs!  Click HERE for a closer look!

I've decided that if this vessel doesn't sell by the time it comes to renew, I'm going to keep it!!!  It is so pretty!!  So, if you want it, this is the time to buy it!!
Click HERE for a closer link.

Another thing to remember is that I am having a 20% off sale in my store until the 17th.  Just use the coupon code, PAYTAXES at checkout, and you will receive 20% off your entire order.  Now, that's a good deal!!!

Easy Peasy Tutorial - Making Earrings using Memory Wire! They are Interchangable and the tutorial free!!

This is what they look like.
Now, here's how you make them.
Here's what you need.
These are the tools you need.
You need a pair of round nose pliers and a pair of memory cutters or heavy duty wire cutters.
Do not use your good wire cutters for this project!
You need memory wire.
The best sizes to use are the adult bracelet size for the big hoops and the child's bracelet size for the medium sized hoops.
You need an assortment of beads.  I used my lampwork discs, spacer beads, crystals, and large seed beads.

You will also need 4 silicone ear stoppers.

Here's what you do.
Cut your memory wire so that you have about a quarter inch on each side.
Can you see the extra wire?

On one end of the wire, using your round nose pliers, make a loop.
This is where you will attach the ear wire.
Oh, I forgot to add that to the supplies,
you will also need two ear wires.
This is the fun part.
I usually add one bead per earring, but you can add more.
See the first picture.
You don't want the earrings to get too heavy.
Add one crystal, one spacer bead, one crystal.
To the end of the open wire, add a silicone earring stopper.
This will prevent the beads from coming off.
Add the ear wires.  Wear an enjoy.
When you get tired of those beads, change them!
